Like Kaunas, I never intend to visit this park, and indeed I plan to free up 3 days to visit the country of Belarus, but decided to cancel the trip due to the need to get a visa (for Belarus) and also fear of border hassle. Instead, since I love Lithuania so much I decided to stay here and see more of this country. After talking to many people at the tourist center, I decided to see some nature of this country (which this country is famous for...) and I picked Aukstaitijos NP! Not a bad choice, sure... the countryside is absolutely beautiful with totally pristine nature that has not been spoiled by any urbanisation at all. The lakes, the trees and the small hills merge together to form a beautiful picture. I rent a boat and row around Lake Lusiai, and also rent a bike and bike for 40 km around the park. Totally exhausted, I rent a small cottage room in the Tourism Center at Paluse to stay for the night, experiencing the best of Lithuanian life in the countryside. The next morning, I woke up, tour a bit more of Lake Lusiai before I head back to the good ole' Vilnius in the afternoon.
